About
I AM is a metalsmithing practice centered on form and process.
The name reflects a belief that identity is self-defined. It serves as a foundation rather than a descriptor, allowing the work to exist without fixed meaning.
Each piece is made by hand using brass and sterling silver, with the intention of moving toward gold as the material evolves. The process involves annealing, forming, and refining the metal until the structure holds. There is no use of molds or casting. Every curve is shaped directly, and variation is preserved.
All pieces are one of one.
This is an early-stage practice. The work develops through repetition, observation, and adjustment over time.
The surfaces retain evidence of the process. Tool marks, slight irregularities, and shifts in finish are not removed entirely, but held as part of the final form. The work maintains an industrial, raw quality that reflects how it was made.
These pieces are meant to be worn, but they’re created with the same care and intention as art. The focus is on line, movement, and balance.
Work is released in small groups and documented as an archive.
